Outline of the activity
The children were using “PowerPoint” to create their own slideshow of the story.
Skills Covered
Children developed knowledge of the program. They learnt how to create slide backgrounds, use template designs, insert text, pictures and sound. The latter being very important to children with Language Disorders, being able to talk onto the PC develops confidence and creativity.
Rationale
PowerPoint provided a powerful tool to help the children create the ‘Moving Storybook’, it allowed them to develop confidence and creativity by talking into the PC. They enjoyed showing their work to visitors to the class.
Result
Each child added their own part to the story. They enjoyed taking on characters and allocating them different voices. They enjoyed making choices as to which text, pictures, backgrounds to choose.
