How was it used?

The unit was used to prepare a GCSE class for their controlled assessment written piece.

The pupils worked as a class using activities on the IWB and an Activ Slate to listen to characters talking about their work experience and then answered questions.

The focus was on using subordinating conjunctions to enhance their own written work.

Impact and Outcomes

  • Allowing the pupils to work as a class on their responses meant that they thought aloud and helped each other improve.
  • The oracy skills of the class are improving tremendously through the use of this type of resource that lends itself so well to group work.
  • The class were all engaged and keen to use the Activ slate to answer questions

Lesson Learnt

Being able to allow the pupils access to the resources via Edmodo and QR codes means that they can learn wherever they are.
