  • sand dunes protecting the flood plain of the Afon Erch were breached in the November 2000 storm
  • immediate protection was to install a buried sheet pile wall covered with shingle
  • in 2005 alternate schemes were put to the local people of Pwllheli allowing them some say in the type of defence to be built
