CAGAG CURRICULUM GROUP MEETING
January 24th 2006
- A level Music Technology was discussed, and a working party is to be established to develop guidance materials regarding the type and range of resources need as a minimum requirement if schools are to deliver the specification.
- Consideration was given as to whether or not CAGAC should again organise a conference for 2008, and whether or not this should be in Cardiff or North Wales.
- CAGAC decided to continue with the Young Composer of Wales competitions. Schools will be contacted and information will be published on the CAGAC website.
- Further development of the CAGAC website was discussed, with a view to making it a genuinely useful website for Music teachers in Wales.
- CAGAC met with Gareth Adams (Estyn) and Lindsey Vandstone, (who has a recruitment role, linked to the Welsh Assembly Government) to discuss the recruitment and retention of music teachers, given that music is now an identified shortage subject. This meeting followed a meeting with GTCW. Data provided by GTCW was shared.
