Llancaiach Fawr
Outline of the activity
Following a class visit to Llancaiach Fawr the children worked in groups to develop multimedia reports on their visit, combining their writing and photographs taken on the visit in a Powerpoint slideshow.
Skills Covered
The children were introduced to planning the presentation as a storyboard, working in groups to plan and produce slides. They wrote reports on their visit which were suitable for the purpose and the intended audience. They were able to insert pictures from disc and copy and paste pictures from the internet into slides.
Rationale
This activity provided the stimulus for children to use ICT to organise, reorganise and analyse ideas and information The children combined text and pictures and used a variety of presentation techniques in a interesting, meaningful context.
Result
All the children thoroughly enjoyed and were able to contribute to the high quality presentations which were produced. The visit proved to be an ideal stimulus for the activity. The presentations could be used by other classes to prepare for future visits, for research or as examples for their presentations.
